Ready For The Rain

Hii,

A couple of weeks ago I got asked how to dress for the rain and I thought I would show you a couple looks of the sorta thing I would wear myself, that hopefully others will like to. Each look has a different feel dependent on if the mood of mine/yours is minimal or a little more creative, in an attempt to show diversity for rainy day styling. I myself do struggle when it rains, knowing I have to ditch any other outfit  plans I had and think of the top of my head, which I've said before is not something I feel comfortable with or am particular good at. I find a lot of the time the outfit I had originally planned to wear would be fine but it's the shoes, the shoes I tell ya that ruins it all and we all know it's not as easy as just switching to another pair because you know they don't look anywhere near as good, so if your anything like me you have to start all over again. GREAT!

So the best thing to do is go back to basics, take what you know works best in weather conditions such as these. A pair of Jeans, black boots, a sweater and jacket will do the job, right? Yes but a little boring and definitely predictable, so simply swap the plain jumper you were reaching for and go with  comfy sweater with a cool motif on the front like this Brian Lichtenberg one and make like all those knowing bloggers and add a striking statement necklace for extra impact, as little details like this is will what set you apart from the rest.

For another Rainy day look, think of your favourite classic pieces such as your favourite crew neck sweater, that plaid shirt that you have had for years and your trusty biker boots and no don't style them with you tired skinnies, take that sequinned skirt that you save for christmas and chuck that into the mix. Of course you need some warmer finishing touches so I would suggest going with some black tights and then adding in some thick knee socks preferably in a richer colour, such as these burgundy socks by Flake and layer them over your tights but only letting them peek out the top of your boots. Simply finish your look of with a classic tailored coat. Not only will a look like this cheer you up on a dull rainy day but you might just put a smile on all the other miserable faces that pass you by, or at the very least a look of confusion of those less creative as lets face it there a quite a few  but we must only sympathise and pray that just one day they might come across a copy of vogue. I'm just kidding, they probably have more "important" things to worry about they dressing for the rain.

Yes I avoided wellington boots but only because I personally don't own a pair (yet) and I wanted the post to be somewhat relatable to my own style and wardrobe. Also check out these very stylish umbrellas, that Mqueen one is soooo cool and yes VERY expensive to but I love them anyway!

Well I hope you like this post. Thank you and take care,

Cos Skirt: The Autumn Twist

Hey everyone,

Wanting to take this Cos skirt through to Autumn seemed like it would be a challenge but I gave it ago anyway and this is how it ended up looking.

To give this skirt a unique and interesting spin I deceived to create some length play by teaming it with this Whistles grey, mid-length dress. I really liked the strong contrast in colours and to bond the two pieces together I once again borrowed my boyfriends Penfield jacket and just simply detached the sleeves. I also like how it bought an androgynous/ sporty tone to the outfit along with an unexpected edge, which I echoed with my Topshop backpack. To keep to the now apparent minimal with an edge theme I decided to wear my Alexander Wang shoes, at first I was worried about the grey on grey but looking at it now i'm glad I stuck with it. I also wore my Mqueen rings and just a simple chain bracelet.

For extra impact I went with my burgundy coloured lipstick. Don't take details like this for granted, you will be surprised at how a small detail like this can transform a look.

Anyway I hope you like this look and thank you for any lovely comments. Take care,

House Of Wilde Dress

Hi everyone,

Apparently it's going to be quite a cold october, which I am not to pleased about as I love transeasonal dressing soooo much and if it's to cold I can wave bye bye to warm layers on top and bare legs with boots on the bottom but hopefully they have it all wrong. They normally do!

Anyway here is a look that includes this pretty awesome dress by House of Wilde that I received  thanks to Life Lasting Pr and of course House of Wilde. I liked the dress for the reason it's not something I would typically choose and liked the idea of being challenged with styling it. Even though I had a few ideas in mind on how I wanted to style it, the main inspirational thought that sprung to mind was minimalism and tonal styling. Not only to echo those qualities that I feel the dress has but to also keep some focus on the cool criss cross detailing it has.

So I styled it with my off white cardigan to carry on those neutral tones along with my Alexander Wang shoes and my Illesteva sunglasses. My jewellery I kept simple and chose pieces that had minimal and edgy qualities, like my boyfriend old chain bracelet and my Alexander Mqueen rings.

I hope you all like this look. Thank you for any comments and take care,

Neon Stripe

Hi everyone,

Hope your week is going well so far. This is something I wore a couple of weeks ago, it was super warm outside and was wondering what to wear when I released I still hadn't worn this neon shirt dress that I bought from the Topshop Boutique range a while ago now, and thought it was the perfect time to wear it. I must say this isn't the way I actually intended on stylng it but that can come later.

I simply wore the neon shirt/dress with my Jil Sander brogues as I thought it was a modern and kind of a tongue in cheek take on tailored styling. I wore my neon mini statement necklace from Topshop, a piece I can not get enough of at the moment, it picked up the metallic tones beautifully. I kept with my simple black clutch as nothing else seemed to work for me that day but I think it looks okay. I have to admit my hair was due to running out time but you know what? I'm digging it and i'm not afraid to say it.

Anyway thats all for this neon day. Hope you like the look. Thank you and take care,

Give The Girl Some Edge

Hi Lovelies,

This is just a little outfit I put together, the pieces are all fairly old but it's always fun reworking some older pieces.  I was in the mood for something a little more feminine then usual but hey if thats what I was feeling then thats what I was going to do.

So for this girly look, I didn't want to just go straight for pastels or anything to fru fru as the are other ways to incorporate girly-chic into a look. So I went with my Topshop polka dot skirt, its flirty shape and length was perfect for giving a nod to girly-chic. I also wore my blue lace top from Warehouse that I bought last November for my sisters birthday and I don't think I have worn it since, I layered it over a nude tee as it's quite a see-through piece and not that, that bothers me but I just thought the nude complimented the blue really nicely. To me the lace top is quite a feminine piece with "ladylike" tones and along with my very old, nude kitten heels I felt that it gave a slightly more grown up approach to styling this girly skirt.

My accessories mainly consisted of edgier pieces to contrast the delicate side of the look. Skull rings, spikes and arm party pieces was the way to go and yes because they are all so COOL!

Okay thats all my chic friends. Thank you and Take care,
